Sourced from our Summit Creek Quarry – Oakley, Idaho, Aztec Gold Basalt is an igneous stone formed through natural cooling and fracturing. It carries earthy gold, muted rust, and warm brown undertones layered over dense volcanic structure.

Basalt is tough, stable, and built by geology. Aztec Gold Basalt Decorative Aggregate delivers warmth without softness. It has visual depth and mineral character while maintaining the density and durability basalt is known for.

Aztec Gold Basalt functions as both a Surface and Finish product when you Build It Right.™

As a Surface, it can be compacted for pathways, xeriscape projects, and defined pedestrian zones when installed correctly over proper base.

As a Finish, it frames patios, strengthens transitions, defines borders, and adds rich contrast to lighter surfaces.

Because it’s basalt, it performs exceptionally well in freeze-thaw climates and resists breakdown over time.

We’ll help you Build It Right.™ Build It Beautiful.™

Q: What makes basalt different from quartzite or granite?
A: Basalt is igneous stone formed from cooled lava. It is dense, durable, and typically darker or earth-toned compared to quartzite’s crystalline structure or granite’s mineral fleck.

Q: Does Aztec Gold Basalt perform well in freeze-thaw climates?
A: Yes. Basalt’s density makes it highly resistant to weathering and breakdown.

Q: Which size is better for pathways?
A: ⅝" is generally preferred for compacted walking surfaces.

Q: Is the gold tone natural?A: Yes. The color variation is naturally occurring within the basalt.
